So, the elections were today and the republicans lost horribly, looks like we are gonna get our guns tooken away by the fascists, and minimum wage is gonna go up.

Most of what im scared of is the democrats winning today being a prediction of whats to come in 08....

it does look like the Republicans will have a narrow hold on the senate. But if the Dems do a shitty job, the Republicans go moderate on a few morality issues as well as distance themselves from Bush they can win in 08

Basically a recent poll said that if McCain runs in 08, that no Democrat can beat him. Otherwise prepare for the coming of the ice queen.(Hillary)

Personally I hate both parties as a whole. They both preach a bunch of BS and come through on about 10% of it.

Right... dems are all left wing. I'm a dem and I'm far from left wing. Are all repubs right wing? Most repubs would argue not, and I would agree. Your statement implies that dems are to the left as fascists are to the right, which couldn't be farther from the truth. So supporting gay rights is communist? It would seem that supporting the rights of gays is closely aligned with protecting our gun rights, so why is that a communist thing? Repubs mught have been about small government and small spending in the past, but that is no longer the case. We have new laws like the patriot act and record high defecits caused by a republican government. The big government that the current republican party now endorses (controlling who we marry, what we talk about, revoking the right of habeus corpus, etc.) seems closer to a communist state than most people would like to admit. I don't like that many of the more extreme dems try to gun grab any more than you guys. But how can you be content with a republican party that is now so far from its claimed values simply because it doesn't try to gun-grab? I really wish the Libertarian party was more powerful as they see that equal rights are equal rights and that government should stay the hell out of our bedroom, home, gun safe, and anything else that is rightfully ours.

And Rummy stepped down. That must add insult to injury, no?

Some dems that got in got pretty good NRA ratings, so it really depends on if a new AWB gets proposed, if they "toe the party line" or not. A lot of that depends on Pelosi, and she will try to make them do just that.

I'm hoping that they spend a lot more time on investigations, Iraq, etc and let 2nd amendment issues lie for a while, until they screw up enough that another repub is elected in 08. I like the house and senate to be in opposite parties, mysefl... I've come to learn that gridlock is a good thing.

Yeah, I'm well aware. My point was that you implied that the opposite of fascist is dem because dem=communist. This isn't true. There is a spectrum on the left as there is a spectrum on the right. The democratic party and the communist party are not the same thing simply because they share the same side of the spectrum any more than the average replublican is a fascist. Those of the right do not like being lumped together with their more extreme elements so the same shouldn't be done to those on the left.
