If people don't give two shits but to watch as a small woman is literally beaten & stomped down to the ground by a man more than twice her size & weight (Chicago cop Abate case) and now as shown below multiple onlookers watch as a 91 yr.old elderly man is beaten savagely by a single and average sized assailant, then hell there is no reason to believe anyone would come to our own aid/rescue if we in fine and defensible health were to victimized in our own communities. It's a damn shame and a sad state of affairs but it is none the less a fact of modern man's life & living.

A 91-year-old World War II vet is beaten as onlookers watch.

That is just sick.

Nose Nuggets you are right, those 5 bums just watching an old helpless man getting attacked need a good ass kicking.

personally if i saw something like this where a helpless victim is getting attacked/robbed/raped/etc. you can betcha ill be right there helping them out.

however i am curious if something like this was happening right infront of you,

1. What is the best way to help the victim without getting or minimizing the possibilty of injury to yourself?
2. How can i help the victim and at the same time protect myself from legal charges?
3. Is it legal for me to hunt that car jacker and give him a nice long ass kicking?

edit: hearing about things like this make me really wish they would reduce the age restriction for CCW

i would probably walk over and yell, asking "what the hell is going on over here?" if no one responds and its obviously an old man getting the shit kicked out of him, i would grab the guy by his jacket and throw his ass to the ground, or grab his shoulders and put my knee at the small of his back and force him to his knees.

their would be far less hesitation if i was their with 4 of my friends.

fuck legal charges. im willing to take a battery charge to help out an old timer. but, in my extremely limited legal perspective, i think i could talk myself out of it, given the circumstances.

hunt the car jacker? no, not even pursue the car jacker in most states. but reacting to a situation where someone else's safety is in obvious jeopardy? sometimes. but i would. i wouldn't pull a gun on him though, at least not right off the bat. that makes ME the aggressor, because now I have a deadly weapon and the attacker does not.

its a sad sad day when people watch a eldery person get beat like that... Those people should be ashamed, but something tells me they are a bunch of pussies and dont feel an ounce of shame for not acting on the old mans behalf.

Given the video showing the elderly man getting beaten, if you came up and then kicked the attackers ass, it's doubtful you'd have a jury willing to convict you of battery or much anything else.

Update...

I posted this update last night at the Crowbarn...

An update...

Police: He Beat, Carjacked 91-Year-Old Vet

WATCH KIM CRAIG'S UPDATE IN VIDEO PLAYER RIGHT -- ARRAIGNMENT OF SUSPECT WILL IMMEDIATELY FOLLOW

WXYZ.com has obtained the mugshot of the man police say savagely beat and carjacked a 91-year-old World War II veteran. The attack was captured by a security camera, shocking video first aired yesterday on WXYZ.

Police arrested 22-year-old Deontae Edward Bradley in Warren last night, just hours after the video first aired.

FROM WAYNE COUNTY PROSECUTOR....

PROSECUTOR CHARGES IN BEATING AND CARJACKING OF 91 YEAR OLD MAN

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy charged Deonte Edward Bradley, 22 of Detroit in connection with the violent assault and carjacking of 91 year old Detroit resident Leonard Sims that occurred at 8:35 p.m. on May 4, 2007 in the parking lot of the Stop and Go Liquor Store located at 3206 W. McNichols.

Mr. Sims parked his 2005 Chevy Malibu in the parking lot of the store. Mr. Bradley asked Mr. Sims for a light for his cigarette and allegedly punched Mr. Sims multiple times in the face and neck. Mr. Bradley forced the keys from Mr. Sims hand and then hit Mr. Sims in the face and used the car door to knock Mr. Sims down on the ground. Mr. Bradley drove away in the vehicle. Mr. Sims was assisted by citizens at the scene who called police.

After an investigation by Detroit Police Department and the Violent Crimes Task Force Mr. Bradley was arrested on May 10, 2007.

He has been charged with Carjacking, which carries a penalty of up to life in prison; and, Assault With Intent to do Great Bodily Harm, which carries a maximum penalty of ten years in prison.

“Is there really any reason to beat a 91 year old just to take his car?” said Prosecutor Worthy. “Carjacking is bad enough but there was absolutely no reason for him to brutalize one of our senior citizens to accomplish his criminal goal.”

The arraignment will take place today at 5:00 p.m. in the 36th District located at 421 Madison Avenue in the City of Detroit.

[Rant] "Mr. Sims was assisted by citizens at the scene who called police."
Fuck you, thats what I'd say. Fuck you!
Watch a damn senior citizen get his ass beat like Tyson did Mitch Green and then after it's all over and the bastard takes off with his shit they then come over to offer a cellphone to call for an ambulance & bandaid and tell the cops what they saw. Fuck [email protected]
Thats the same pussy as shit that kids on the playground pull when the bully rolls up and kicks a bitch in the shin to take his lunch. After he rolls out then the 5 or 10 kids come up from behind bushes and around corners to offer condolences and say stupid crap like 'thats was mean' or 'are you okay?'..I saw it all I'll tell the Principal. No bitch I'm not okay. I'm busted up, bleeding, and my shit got took you blockhead...how is the principal gonna undo that?! I'm not the fuck okay!
Elderly people like this are preyed on daily by hyena bastards like this kid. They are the weakest and frailest of our citizens and the hyena know it. They are easy prey. These people are beaten, disabled (further!), and worst even killed. If this person were a mother with a baby or a child alone would we/they be so slow to react and enmass offer aid? Five on 1 are damn good odds equating to 20 fists & feet + 4 of the victim against just 4 of the BG. That's damn good odds in my book.
I swear I see shit like this and it just infuriates as well as saddens me toward what our society has become. [/Rant]

91-Year-Old Beating Victim Calls Bystanders 'Low-Class'

As reported today by ABCNews.com:

91-Year-Old Beating Victim Calls Bystanders 'Low-Class'
Video Shows Five People Watched an Elderly Man Being Beaten and Carjacked and Did Nothing

Leonard Sims, 91, and his wife, Nora, are disgusted by the five people who did nothing as the World War II vet was savagely beaten and his car stolen. "They are low in class, low in spirit, low in life," Leonard said. (ABC News)

May 15, 2007

The video of 91-year-old Leonard Sims being beaten by a carjacker is hard to watch. But perhaps even harder to believe is that no one stopped to help him.

Surveillance cameras rolled as the World War II veteran was approached by a stranger in the parking lot of a convenience store outside of Detroit.
The man asked him for a light for his cigarette, and then suddenly began punching him. Sims could not move. He was pinned between his car door and another car. The attacker punched him 21 times and then stole his car.

"The way he beat my heart and face, I could have died," Sims said.

Remarkably, Sims survived the brutal beating, but the story gets more disturbing.

In the video you can see five bystanders watching the 91-year-old man being beaten and doing absolutely nothing to help him.

"It tells a story of a community that's either too fearful or deadened to have the outrage to get in the way of somebody being attacked," said forensic psychiatrist Dr. Michael Welner.

In February, a similar scene unfolded in a Chicago bar when an off-duty police officer viciously attacked a female bartender while others just looked on, offering no help.

The woman survived, but she sustained injuries to her head, arms and ribs.

"In all of these situations there are things people can do. If nothing more than yell at the top of their lungs, 'Stop!'" Welner said.

Sims and his wife agree and have a message for those who stood by, doing nothing in his darkest hour.

"I would tell them that they are low in class, low in spirit, low in life," Sims said.

His wife Nora added: "Speak up! Stand up! Get up and do something. Get involved, because it's not right. It's not right at all."

Agreed NN...fear incapcitated them as they had far more than enough numbers to be effective muchless successful.

In the old days and the times of the WWII vet boys and men weren't so often scaredy cats.
