Most flare guns shoot a different length shell that is shorter than the standard 12 ga 2 3/4 shot. I thought about this as well. It could be dome with a metal flair gun if you load custom shorter rounds.

Walmart sells the plastic ones that shoot a 12 guage shotgun round that is actually a flare. Its the same principal,right? Firing pin will make it go bang?
I know the Israel army uses cool metal flare guns that are almost exactly like the ones they sell at walmart but are metal instead of plastic. Can you shoot a shotgun round out of one and still maintain a reasonable spread?
I wouldnt trust the pastic walmart one, but the concept behind it is interesting. Why dont gangsters use these as single shot shotguns instead of sawed offs, etcs? Its cheap, efficient, etc?

Don't do it in plastic guns, you can buy Eley 2 1/2" 12ga light target loads that have light primers that will work in the metal guns. just make sure you hang on lol

If you saw the barrel so it's equal to the length of the shell, they work ok. If anypart of the plastic gets hit by shot, orange pieces of sharp plastic go flying everywhere, not very fun........................ Or so i've heard.

Niiiiiiiiiiice.
I have an orange orion plastic flare gun and have shoot a 20 ga shell out of it the gun is still in tacked my hand hurts a bit right now and the other day I seen a youtube video where this kid cut a 12 ga round in half and shot it, it worked fine the reason why I did this is because Im contemplating suicide & I live in canada and it is not that easy to get your hands on a gun
