The 14-year-old is expected to appear in juvenile court Friday to face charges that could include making terroristic threats, criminal solicitation, weapons possession, and possession and manufacturing of weapons of mass destruction, police said.
Talk about blowing shit out of proportion! He has one 9mm rifle, no ammo, a bunch of plastic guns that shoot plastic bbs and hes making home made explosives? whats the big fuckin deal? Me and a friend used to make black powder explosives all the damn time. Criminal solicitation for talking about columbine with a his "friend in the loosest of terms". but come on people, weapons of mass distruction? you have got to be fucking kidding me.

"This was a youth in the community who has not been enrolled in school since spring of 2006," according to Dave Sherman, spokesman for Plymouth Whitemarsh High School.
provides a serious lack of motive.

im surprised my fellow gunatics are so quick to judge. shame, really.

And since when can you buy hand grenades online:confused:
I think you can buy old Army surplus inert training grenades - no explosives, no fuse, not even a spring under the spoon. I know I've got an old pineapple style inert grenade around the house somewhere; I bought it at an Army Surplus store back in 1987.

He was removed from the school 1.5 yrs. ago by his parents for problems in getting along with the other children. They stated that they would 'home school' him.

The police have found in his bedroom plans and notes toward specifically attacking the school.

The weapons they found included a 9MM rifle and handgun, along with as reported on CNN this morning a box of ammunition.

The vast majority of his 'cache' were air rifles toward BBs and be they airsoft BBs or metal old school BBs it does not matter. People still could have been hurt by them or as a result of them. A girl in the Ohio shooting was hospitalized upon falling and being trampled by other children behind her trying to escape from the gunman being directly behind them.

Further a gunman even alone with an airsoft rifle showing up at a school is extremely disruptive and terrifying to children, teachers, other staff, community and childrens parents...and worst the police who would show up and likely shoot this kid on site would be affected as well for shooting a child with a realistic looking and functioning airsoft rifle.
Potential for terror alone was high. That is not blown out of proportion nor the fault of the media. Same happened just one (Ohio) and two days (Wisc) prior.

It's a pretty big deal.
As to making black powder explosives fortunately you were not a nut bag and didn't make maps of your schoool toward planning of attacks and didn't solicit your firends to get involved in helping you do same toward attacking a school.
Not exactly the same thing is it?
Kind of like how lots of kids play with Airsoft guns and own one or maybe even ten. The key here is the total of this specific boys actions not simply that of his cache the majority were Airsoft or that you suppose his hand greandes might maybe have been airsoft grenades, which still can injure a person and/or instill fright and associated injury.

Normally I'd agree with nose nuggets, but the details of this incident are far too incriminating to turn away from it. If he just had a 9mm rifle, some illegal firecrackers, (m-1000s), and a cache of airsoft guns, it'd be no big deal... But that isn't the case at all, and Janq made that point clear.

all it says in the article is

Police have taken into custody a 14-year-old boy who is suspected of planning a "Columbine" type event at a Pennsylvania high school, a police spokesman said.

it said nothing about maps and written plans.

That article is old news and a first report.
It's been 24 hrs. now and three police press conferences later including most recently this morning featuring the mother of this kid having been formally charged and taken to court.

Maps, written plans, ammunition, a 9MM handgun in addition to the carbine, Nazi paraphanalia, and three hand grenades with non reported by the police as being airsoft/BB/gutted shells are reported by the police chief (not the media) as being in this boys room and direct possesion specifically toward his as also found written plans toward attacking his former school.
This is not a case of boy found in home with a room full of plastic toys.

Uh, dude! It says a WHOLE hell of a lot more than that. Did you not read further than the first sentence?

hehe of course i did. my first post quoted two other statements from the article. the portion i quoted in the post of mine that you quoted was the only statement even suggesting the kid had anything planned. the hand painted nazi flag and the video of the columbine incident are purely circumstantial. i think its still legal to be a nazi in this country, thank god. and a video of a school shooting is meaningless in itself.
