Exclusive: Teens Pelt Driver With Bricks, Stones
Woman Says She Only Tried To Stop A Fight Between Them

Jay Gormley
Reporting

(CBS 11 News) DALLAS A woman trying to break up a fight says she was attacked in broad daylight. The woman's truck was pelted with bricks and stones by nearly 50 teenagers in an upscale neighborhood in Dallas. The victim says it was caught on video, but the tape has yet to surface.

According to a police report, the teenagers used stones and bricks from a nearby construction site. The victim says she’s upset that no arrests have been made.

Classes at North Dallas High School in uptown had just let out when Kris Martin was approaching the intersection of Travis and Haskell.

I saw probably 50 kids, and there was absolutely no way that anybody could get through this intersection because they were fighting in a group," said Martin. "Plus, they were video taping it from the curbs. I mean they were everywhere."

Attempting to put a stop to it, she inched closer. "And I just started honking, and I thought if I lay on this horn enough, they'll stop," she said.

But the teenagers were defiant, and instead of running, they attacked.

"So as they approached, they started throwing bricks at my windshield. I dialed 911," she said. "I knew it was a bad situation."

All of this took place in front of a construction site in an up-scale neighborhood. At least a half-dozen workers witnessed the attack.

"They started throwing rocks at her," said Luis Soria who witnessed the attack. "They were big rocks, baseball size rocks."

The dents and scratches are quite apparent on Martin's truck, and she's certain her attackers are students at nearby North Dallas High.

"These punks are not going to take over this neighborhood," Martin said.

That's why Martin sent a letter to the Dallas Independent School District demanding action.

"If somebody had a gun, or if a brick had gone through my windshield, then I would have lost more than I would have gained," Martin said.

Lesson learned:

Civil disturbance SHTF type occurences can happen anywhere at any time involving anyone. As such use your head and most importantly common sense. This woman thought she was 'Dyna-Girl' but she must have forgotten that her show was cancelled decades ago and kids now days have near zero respect for nor fear of their elders. Hell if anything they have contempt for them (us) and themselves too.
When driving down the road and faced with a situation like this be it a smalll melee or an all out riot, do not try to drive through it when other options are available such as reversing and going an alternate way (!). You ain't the damn cops nor in a cop car...not that the cops would attempt doing such a stiupid thing as she did. If there are no other options though and it's you or taking a brick to the head through your windshield, well then you have to make your choices. I personally would select 'L' or 'D2' and make like Ivan Stewart. If that meant clipping some flip flop wearing folks toe nails in the process or worst running into and over bitches, well then it's me or them...and I must be home for supper with my kids. My car can be repeaired and I'd rather go to court alive & well to explain why I ran over Little Johnny and his crew than be laid out in ICU as Johnny and his unscratched buddies in his momz basement post pics & video of the fracas on MySpace and YouTube.

never underestimate stupid people in large groups.

you cant asses a group of 50 teenagers as teenagers. STFU and drive away. a group of 50 teenagers, adults or even friggin senior citizens is practically guaranteed anonymity for those evolved. even with a video its going to be hard to determine exactly who did what.

Too many bodies to one side, and you'll flip it... That's how they win.
As well put enough persons with hands on your car and it will not move being unable to generate enough torque _and_tire traction to overcome the force of those pushing against it.
This has happened IRL and been shown in the news toward mob scenes to get people owned, not to mention YouTub type videos of kids fookin' around on the streets.

It seems folk like this woman have forgotten about those victims and situations before them such as the infamous case of Reginald Denny...

In a mob situation it is critical that folk be able to recognize what is happening _before_ it comes to their drivers side door, or the brick to their head, _and_ they be able to formulate not a response but a survival plan of action that is most efficient and effective, rather than freeze or worst hope the mob takes mercy on you.
To hell with vehicular damage from the mob. Geico can fix some bent body panels and replace broken glass in a weeks time.

I think what it might be is that people generally are unable to get past in their mind the action that they may have to 'hurt' another person, even if that means ensuring their own survival. On the surface to read the thought process is odd an makes no sense but in real world life on the street evidence of as much is very easy to find over and over male or female. I'm sure every one of use has seen as much n our own lives in schoolyards, at night clubs, and amongst our own streets of travel. Possibly even being ourselves the one who took a beating rather than react for fear of hurting another or not being able to make that mental & emotional leap.

At the end of the day it comes down to survival.
This lady as based on her own words and actions, as well as inaction, likely has never been faced prior with having to make a decision toward supporting her own survival. Very many people, the majority I'd think, never have to experience or even think of this in their existence and if by chance it does come up they find it difficult to think through as much and default to passivity and/or trying to negotiate their way through such as this womans though that honking her car horn might for some odd reason put the fear of God almighty himself into the mob. Mobs and criminals as based on results are generally fearless and God less as well, and will like hyena prey on those they figure to be fearful.

"...They push that girl in front of a train. Took her to a doctor, sewed her arm on again. Stabbed that man, right in his heart. Gave him a transplant for a brand new start. I cant walk through the park cause its crazy after dark. Keep my hand on the gun, cause they got me on the run.
I feel like an outlaw, broke my last glass jaw. Hear them say; "You want some more?!", livin on a seesaw...Dont push me, cause I'm close to the edge.
I'm trying not to loose my head. It's like a jungle sometimes, it makes me wonder how I keep from going under." - 'The Message'

Petrus,

They were recently entered into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as the first rap/hip-ho band to ever be voted in.
IMHO deservedly for them in specific and appropriate.
