Someone I know is hopefuly getting a tax stamp approved for one of these:

http://serbu.com/shorty.htm

The SUPER-SHORTY is based on a Mossberg Maverick (also available on 500 or Remington 870 at additional cost) 12-gauge shotgun which came from the factory with a pistol grip. Because of this, the SUPER-SHORTY is considered an AOW (Any Other Weapon) and can be transferred with a $5 stamp! The gun holds two 2-3/4" or 3" shells in the magazine, plus one in the chamber. The 16.5" overall length, 6.5" barrel and spring-locked foregrip, which pivots out of the way when not in use, make for a very compact package. As far as we know, this is the shortest 12-gauge pump shotgun available. All parts for the SUPER-SHORTY are made in-house on our own CNC machinery using materials ideally suited to the task. All welds are done by the TIG process, and the manganese phosphate finish is MIL-spec. The SUPER-SHORTY is currently being used by various law enforcement agencies and military units worldwide. If you like the idea of concealed carry with a 12-gauge, or like a lot of "bang" in a small package, or just want the most compact breaching weapon available, then this is the gun for you. You won't find a better made AOW pump shotgun than the SUPER-SHORTY! Price: $675. Deluxe version (shown) with front sight and sling swivels: $725. There is a $100 processing fee due on cancelled orders due to the lengthy paperwork process involved. (Note: The SUPER-SHORTY is registered per the National Firearms Act of 1934. Please read the section on our home page on how to buy an NFA weapon from us).[/img]

My Serbu is being built off of a virgin 870 reciever. I prefer it over the Mossberg 500's shown in the pictures above.

Heheeee I can't stand the wait.

Now THAT is IDEAL for home defense. :D
My thoughts exactly. I am going to put the little 4 shot side saddle on it and a Hogue Tamer grip.

I plan on using Federal Tactical 00 Buckshot - Law Enforcement High Energy-Low Recoil.

Here is a size comparisson.

I like the foregrip on this one.

I had wondered about this, as I do keep all "EVIL BLACK" rifles out for home defence..

I think it was here I read some story about a guy that shot someone id defence with an AC-556 legaly and it costs thousands in cort just because it was with an automatic weapon?

I never actually read such a story, but I was advised by a weapon's expert to avoid assault weapons and anything of the like for home defense for exactly that reason. Assault weapon implied that any and all intruders would be shot on sight so self defense isn't as arguable. I've wondered how a "tactical" shotgun would be taken for this same reason

As cool as that thing is, in terms of concept, I think it's a poor manifestation.

If you watch the vid in slow motion it's very evident that the weapon is quite innacurate. Observe the difference between his first and last discharge. That thing just travels way up and I think it would be very hard to control, even in the most trained hands.

I have a lot of tools that are designed to do different tasks

This one is not an urban combat gun.
This is a 'stop the bad person trying to get past my strengthened bedroom door' gun. If a second intruder is stupid enough to push the issue I am confident that I will have time to re-engage that person as he stumbles past his fallen comrade.
I also believe that this is a great platform if I need to navigate my home to reach an exit. I will be in control of 12 gauge stopping power with a reduced risk of a barrel grab that would normally be associated with a 12 gauge shotgun with an 18-24 inch barrel.

We could play what/if scenarios all day. But, I believe that this is a great choice for the purpose for which I purchased it.

The guy in the video appears to be throwing lead down range indiscriminately. I hope so at least, because he looks jerky and poorly trained. We also have no idea what type of cartridge he has chosen to shoot from the gun.
For my purposes I will be using Federal tactical buckshot law enforcement
high energy-low recoil shells in 00. http://www.ammoman.com/images/12-ga-tactical.jpg
These reduced recoil shells really make a difference and should do well in the little Serbu.
