I've tried my combo out already and even though it isn't as quiet as a suppressed .45 acp from my Mk 23, I don't need ear plugs. The .357 Sig (especially from a 5.32" Bar-Sto barrel) rounds hit alot harder even when suppressed, than any suppressed 45 ACP. Plus, I have a flatter trajectory, if I have to take a long range shot.
Check out the M4s outfitted with suppressors. The rounds are going still supersonic, it makes it more bearable to fire it. I've been to Iraq twice (once in the U.S. Army, and with Blackwater) and I have seen stuff that works and doesn't, and found combos that worked / liked.![]()

For me, even with a 30-35dB reduction (which is a little more than what plugs offer), the noise is a little harsh
The M4 that I have fired supressed, with I believe AWC, AAC, Knights, where all very nice to shoot, definately more bearable to shoot. I think the benefit really shines for entry teams. or to disguise the gunshot so it is not as recognizable
I will defer to your knowledge on this subject as you have much more experience in this field
