Steyr M-Series pistols?

Greetings gents!

I was just wondering how people's experience with Steyr pistols has been... I think those guns look pretty interesting/darned cool, but wonder if they perform well or not.

Just trying to determine if I should forego lunches and save up for yet another firearm or no...

I have an M9 and let me tell you these are my second favorite pistol behind the Walther p99. They were designed by a guy who helped Gaston Glock design the famous g17 and g19. When he went to Glock to offer some ideas for impriing teh standard design he was told business was good and there was no need for improvement. Disheartened by this he was lured away by Steyr and his "improved Glock" became the M series. I like Glocks so dont get me wrong but the Steyr points better(same grip angle as a luger), has a lower slide/barrel so the recoil is less then on the g19, has optional manual safety, and cool ass sights that are better than the traditional glock or 3 dot setup on most guns when you get used to it. I absolutely adore the gun and it easts any ammo like a glock. I have never had one single failure to eject, feed, or fire that can be attributed to the gun.

Also the Steyr trigger is 75% cokced and the feel of it is less long and gritty as a glock. Mine breaks at 4 1/2 pounds and if you ddint have that safe action trigger in teh middle you could almost mistake it as a single action pull.

its also accurate as hell. I shoot mine at 25 yards all teh time and post very good patterning on my homemade torso sillouette targets. Once you get used to the sights you get spoiled. I shot my new Taurus teh other day and I must confess I hate 3 dots now.

Get one...they are about the same price as a glock but above them in feel, shootability, and safety. Its one of teh 4 poly guns I would own being the 2nd on my list. Walther P99, Steyr M, Glock, CZ100

I'd love to get a styer pistol, and I'd probably have all of them, but they are banned in CA.
I checked the Kommiefornia DOJ list online and the Polit Bureau says the new MA1 series is legal now. Just the old M series isnt oddly enough since its the same pistol just with a different rail and grip texture.

Welcome to several month ago, Mr. Safradin. The Steyrs are 100% legal. But you have to wait 30 days now since you just drosed glock. Oh, the agony!
Well, guess I know what my next pistol is! w00t.

I am getting the steyr 357 next.
Cool thin about that is you can shoot 40S&W if you pick up a spare barrel.
Now the trick is actually finding a Steyr dealer in Colorado!

[There just has to be one around here somewhere... Road Trip?!?! Heck, maybe "my dealer can score one for me?"]

But yeah, those pistols are wicked cool looking! I dig how the front of the gun looks all heavy compared to the narrow backend, and of course I really like the looks of those sights! Overall the gun looks slick and futuristic IMHO, and though I am known for my love of the "old school" guns something as cool and 21st century in appearance as that Steyr is a bit too hard to resist :)

I'll ask about it when I go make another layaway payment on my... Um, oops! I meant when I go to my gun store to pick up some ammo, yeah that's it. Nothing to see here..

I love the Steyr sights. I think I had a dream of night sights based on the Steyr layout once. :)

I went shooting today with my old man and I really do so much better with steyr sights over teh 3 dot system on his Ruger P85 and my Taurus pt92. Im a good shot but those sights make me way better.
:gasp: another steyr owner!

i haven't had the chance to go shooting, but with my awful aim i can't print good groups. i can't even get good groups on a hi standard .22 target :(
so... are the steyr M series now legal in California? If so, anyone know of store in the SF Bay area which sells them?
The new M9A1 is Cali legal but the old M9 isnt. Only difference is the light rail and a more textured grip

trigger safety, gun is cocked.
oh yeah? intaresting. i have never shot a gun with that.
I checked one of these out today during my lunch break... it was really nice actually.. I didn't try it out yet... but will probably do so soon... this may be what I get to replace my Taurus which was stolen...

It was actually very comfortable... the guy there said he didn't like the sights on it... I liked the way they looked but will have to see how I like it when I try it out...
