Its only 8 AM and I have a dead brother in law(massive heart attack at 35) and my computer crashed and I lost alot of my pictures, music, and shit. Luckily I had all my graduate work on a flash stick memory drive. Im going to have a beer and go to bed and stay there for the rest of the day.

Sorry to hear that Adler. :(

In my world it's been an excellent day with two large value contract opportunities come my way out of the blue and both want to sign and write checks on Monday.
For my line of work this is very unusual.

I was not overly close to him, but my Father is taking it really hard. I have buried so many people that I am slightly numb to it all. Thanks for all your condolences.

I have no money to even pick up stock.......TA salaries in the History Dept here are god awful. I should have been a Chemistry grad student.....they make 3.5X as much as I do every month.

Yeah it is just at my university. Iowa State is a big science and engineering school and they get alot of government money for those departments. The history department is uber small and has an equally small budget. Universities like Indiana or other large liberal arts schools would pay better.

My parents are up close to their 70's and I prefer to stick around to help them out a bit. Mow their lawns and stuff like that. Plus I cant move now.......Im at the PhD stage. Two more years and I am done. Plus I like my head prof. His dad was the only person I have ever heard of to be captured by his own army. His dad was German and immigrated in the 20's and joined the army. He was a Sergeant at the Battle of the Bulge and he got lost from his squad at one point and captured by his own military. And since there were reports of English speaking Germans in US uniforms running around they interrogated him. After it was all cleared up they shipped him off to the pacific to avoid further problems.

I see how you'd want to stay close to family. I'm sure you'll get a bump in pay when you get the PhD.

That's a crazy story, It's like band of brothers with the German-American guy that joined the Nazis.
