The M-200 is basically a tricked out Windrunner or in the case of the .408, XMO8. It's a great gun don't get me wrong but the only major differences are the barrel, forestock and bipod placement and paint and for this theycharge 6000$ more. EDM makes most of cheytacs components and only charge 7500.

OK.. I'm not sure how/why kids think that if you join any of our military services you get to pick waht weapon/uniform/tactical gear you get to use. There are some things you can "get away" with, but most times you get issued a standard item.

If you join the Army and earn the right to be a sniper, you will start out with an M24 (Remington M700) and possibly you'll get to the M82. If you get to the elite ranks of SF or CIA or eventually employed by a PMC then you may get a choice since they usually are the groups who test new weapons.

If you join LE and eventually a S.W.A.T. unit, you'd have a little more freedom on the choice of weapon you use, but the catch may be, you pay for it yourself.

Quoted for the truth.

And becoming a sniper is possibly one of the most difficult things ever.

Not trying to disuade you from going after your "dream". Just letting you know the reality that if you make sniper in the Army, this has no relation to you ever firing an exotic sniper rifle system. In the U.S. Military your "weapon of choice" is what they issue you.

I got to fire every Cheytac rifle in their line up in 2005. But that was due to me visitng them in Texas.

its been a dream of mine...i have been shooting rifles for a long time...i know i can do it.
Ref post #17

i wish you the best of luck in your endevours, and the attitude you have is probably the only attitude that will get you where you want to go. just be aware that the some of the best marksman in the armed forces cant necessarily be snipers.

as odd as that sounds.

being able to shoot a rifle accurately at extreme distances is probably one of the smaller facets of being a sniper. A more difficult task is making that same shot, twice, without being seen.

/and peeing in your ghillie suit
