So, I have outgrown my gun safe. I'm starting to build a small gun vault/closet at my house (~6' x 6') and I need some ideas on how to store the guns. I'd like to do something wall mounted and horizontal, but I might do a combination of vertical and horizontal for better use of the space. I'm also looking to incorporate ammo/parts storage.

What do you guys have for storing and/or displaying?

Display wise, I'm a big fan of Gridwall.

Deceptively strong and affordable. In the pic it holding 50+ lbs of Airsoft. The gridwall pictured is freestanding on a set of legs and is 4 feet tall. We use 6 and 8 foot versions of this at tradeshows and pile on even more and heavier goods. Gridwall can be converted to wall mounting easily too. Even stronger when wall mounted.

My preference for storage/display is the lower vertical rack.

Ahh sorry they make gridwall hooks. We use the 4 inch ones and can double up rifles most of the time on each set of hooks.

Here's an example of pricing:

4ft Gridwall Display with Set of Legs - $25.00

4" Gridwall Hooks - $.65

1 thing to be careful about if you do order, UPS and other shipping companies treat these panels as oversized, so if you can find them locally to p/u it'll save you some $$.

I to have run out of room in my Fort Knox safe..

Im going to make room for a valt room here soon and was going to build some racks to mount to the wall but thanks to Orca I may look into getting some of those and wall mount them..

I like that gridwall system and it might go well with some narrow storage cabinets underneath for ammo and whatnot. I'm just not too excited about the hooks. There isn't much of a return lip on them to keep the rifle from sliding off. Plus I would be concerned with scratching. My vault room is going to share a common wall with my front door, so it will see some vibration when the door is opened and closed.

Another option I was considering was what I use in my garage. I have the Gladiator gear track which is similar to slatwall. They have a bunch of different types of hooks that might work and all are rubberized. But I think it might be a bit too utilitarian for the vault.

Thanks.

I've got another one of those rotary racks holding 5 scoped hunting rifles too. Plus a couple of more rifles I still need to hang. Not too mention all of the pistols hanging out on the bookcase.

I think I'm going to have to start reloading.
