That's the same thing I was thinking. If the production run looks like the photo, it looks closer to the real thing than any other kit I've seen.

have a long cylindrical thing coming out of said briefcase... People will be like "What the hell? He must be a graphic designer and have long pens and brushes!

Little do they know, it's an MP5K! MHAHAHHAHAH!

You play to much Hitman..
Seriously, H&K during the late 90s and early '00s marketed an MP5 encased in a specially deisgned briefcase with an outlet for the barrel (inside the case) to fire through. This item was for ages featured in their MIL/LEO marketing brochures and products catalog with a SKU and NSN as a complete assembly.
I have their old brochures and catalogs hanging around somewhere in my files but I'm not sure if I have that stuff up here or if it's at my office in VA.

Last time I saw the HK catalog (early 2006) it was removed from the selections.
I'll try to Google up an image of it as the concept was very much real and marketed toward discrete protection details.
It fell within my line of work and market focus though HK in specific has never been a client of ours.

Edit:
It was easy to find...

The unit held an MP5 inside with a remote trigger activation 'trigger' mounted to the cases handle actuating a toggle inside the case for the SMG itself.
I've not seen this particular unit IRL but for a time it was heavily marketed on paper/in paper to buyers of this arena.

Oh I know about those, sadly its not legal unless the case its self is registered as a class 2 weapon.

They used to have one at the shooting range in there display cage, Yes with a full auto MP5K in it.

Didn't have to sweat any of those details and legality as my market are all .GOV as well as LEO types whos agencies, departments, and individuals and contractors are largely exempt from stress of as much.
Market, sell, buy, document for purposes of payment, deliver, repeat. :)

The case as sold was with an FA MP5K as I recall, setup ready to rock n' roll.
