well here I sit... in my final hours before i make the plunge into the 1911 world. there are two i am seriously considering, but i think i have already made my choice. the les baer custom carry or springfield armory trp operator w/ light rail and armory kote.

I'm a fan of the SAs. They're great guns. Both the Baer and the SA are great guns but they not in the same class. While both are 1911, they're not the same animal. Something ... something ... apples ... something ... oranges.

i think you're right when you say that. i am looking at the reliability of the gun overall. i am ok if it shoots a 2.5" group at 50 yrds rather than a 1.5" group as long as it is more reliable. the money is a consideration, but not so much when my life will be depending on the gun. here in lies my choice, which is a very difficult one.
