Need some inert ammo for a formal presentation I am making for the history dept at ISU. Its a chapter out of my thesis on the advancement of the intermediate cartridge in the west and east. I need a round or two of the following in FMJ.


7.62x54R
7.62x39mm
8mm Mauser
7.92x33mm (7.92 Kurz)
30-06 M2
308 Win (7.62 NATO)
5.56 NATO (223rem)
30 carbine

By what do you define as Inert? Holes drilled or just Deprimed?

Holes drilled or deprimed works. These are for a tangible display for my presentation. Pictures are one thing, but when you hold a 30-06 up to a 223...it really shows.

Most of those rounds I would bet you have on hand so it's pretty easy just to make them. You can pull a bullet with most pliers then just dump the powder and pop the primer from the inside with a small punch or screwdriver or just chamber it and discharge into the ground and push the bullet back into the neck and a little fine grit sandpaper and some model paint will cover the plier marks.

Yeah but those of you who relod can do it and have it look much nicer than me. Im actually running low on several of those calibers. Right now I only have 3 of them.

Hm.. these primers are not popping out, I snaped off a punch on the 7.62X39The flash hole on them seems to be smaller than I have seen on the steel cases ones, Cheap ass punches dont help as well...

The same with the 8mm rounds, I may just do it with a live primer put a torch on it for a half second and pop the primer so it will fly out This is what I did to make key chains.

Yeah it got pushed back a week so I am golden still. I havent been around because its been the week from hell. I have been sick, had a history conferance to attend, 2 papers to write, and on top of it I nearly got hit by a tornado. That would have sucked since I am still fighting my insurance company for damages from an ice storm last month.

Well it went just north of town.....I happen to live on the north end of town so It was within a mile.....thats close enough for me. I have actually be hit by 2 before.....once on a roadtrip and once at my old house back in my hometown. Luckily both were F1 or F0.

I live in Tornado alley.....but Id rather dealwith a twister than a hurricane or earthquake.

I renewed my NRA membership for 5 more years.......hope they put that monety to good use.
