I shot a mossberg 500 with the M4 type stock and it was actually pretty nice. The recoil is stiffer but there are M4 type recoil pads you can add to it. I think cheaperthandirt.com has them.

I never cared for the all black look on shottys. I love my little trench gun repro. I would hate to put synthetic on it if they even made it cause it kicks like hell with walnut.
