Might want to build an AR.

So I'm thinking someday I might want to build an AR since I love taking guns apart and figuring out how they tick and putting them back togeather. I took apart the trigger group on my SKS once to fix a bent safety spring and put it back togeather without a problem. (Thank goodness I had a vise!)

What are some suggestions? I was looking at Model 1 Sales and you can get whole kits without an FFL. How does that work? What would I need to finish it? I like their options.

Someone school me a bit on building an AR.

I haven't looked on their site, but it sounds like you we need to get the lower receiver, which has to go thru an FFL or FTF instate

It says "Stripped Lower Receiver" so I'm assuming it's just the steel with no hammer, sear, trigger group, etc. Where can you just get that alone?

You can get a stripped lower from another manufacturer, like Bushmaster, RRA, DPMS armalite etc....
you can also get them from Midwayusa or brownells or your local FFL
Model 1 is a great place for AR's, where I got my M4 parts from and its where I just ordered my AR-15 pistol parts from on friday.

All the kits do not come with a stripped recever

They do great work and there very friendly on the phone, I tell everyone thinking about an AR to look there.
Pick up a shotgun news.....its full of places to get parts kits and reciever assemblies. The last issue tells you how to build an A1 variant step by step and what tricks and tools you need.
