Of that, 1000 are US. The US is now and has been for some time, the most powerful nation in the world and that is not going to change anytime soon. This isn't jingoistic, it is fact. However politically, we are deeply divided. That does not mean that as a people we are. The majority of this nation has always grouped around the middle not the fringes and it is the fringes that are dominating the political discussion. That can change rapidly in times of real crisis which we do not have that right now despite what is being thrown against the wall by both right & left.
