the lower is a modular design that allows the mag well (.223 shown) to be swapped out with one that would accept AK mags, or other calibers. the upper from MGI Military is also of proprietary design that allows for a quick change barrel depending on the caliber being used.

wow, I remember seeing a system like this in development a matter of weeks ago. I had no idea that one like it was already available on the market. No suprise really due to my current state of residence.

so how would this kit compare with the one in the link below? or are they the same thing and I'm just daft?

edit- whoops, re-read the article and yes, it is made by the very same company (MGI millitary).

Did you go pick it up or did they ship to you?
I'm interested in the whole assy. upper & lower as a kit and I'd get the AR, AK, and when it comes out the Ciener .22LR as well as 9MM magwell conversions.

Folks the upper seems spendy on the surface but it comes setup with Wilson style rails/accesory mouting points from the factory.
If you were to add the same to a regular AR, which many people do thus the setup, the cost would come out to be similar same.
For what all you get it's not really all that expensive at all if you do the math.

Wow, that would add up to be expensive fast.

You dont need a special barrel to be Quick detach?
No the QCB upper is not barrel dependant as per it's design.
It'll accept any and all standard AR aftermarket barrels (!).
See my OT thread link as the whole deal about this product is explained there in detail. This thing is bad ass and designed by two persons of note, not a fly by night outfit.

It is spendy but so is the cost of having two or three rifles as purchased individualy (new), and this allows a user to do more with one than they can with three singular or multiple.
It's not cheap but then stuff like this never is.

Stoner would be so proud. Given the modular nature of the AR, I wonder why it has taken so long for a system like this to be developed? Seems like it would have been an easy step to concieve. Anyhoo, it's here now and I suppose that's all that matters.

btw- the belt feed system looks awesome!
