Anyone know if Kimber offers their 1911 pistols with an extended slide stop/release. If not, anyone installed one on their Kimber? I was looking at one from Wilson Tactical. I heard they make great parts for 1911's. I'm probably buying a Kimber Custom 2 so anyone with some input/personal experience would be greatly appreciated! Thanx!

I've never seen one on a stock gun but I don't look at Kimbers all that much. Aren't extended slide stops like a $5 part from midway anyway? I don' think you need any gunsmithing to have them installed, I thought they were pretty much just drop-in.

Well theyre like 30 from Wilson but Wilson's 1911's are like 3000 a piece so the part is probably real nice. Yeah they make it easier to release the gun with the strong hand. I'm used to my Sig and Glock so I like to drop the slide with the strong hand. You have to shift your grip without an extended stop because you're supposed to use your support hand with 1911's. Removing the slide stop is part of the fieldstripping process so yeah they're usually just a drop in part. Thanx for your reply.jamz said:
