How the fuck do i put this back together?

Fucking thing came apart when I was changing the grips. I tried needle nose pliers, but there is way too much tension on the spring. Also I am limited in how I can grip the spring, because I have to place the hammer spring retainer over the compressed spring and then slide it back into place.

this may help or may not. They had a section covering field disassembly and grip changes for the pistol
Oh n03es, the dreaded "Box o' Gun"!!!
I've done that with my Beretta. The gunsmiths always laugh when you hand them the gun, then the box of parts.

I did that once with my P226 a long time ago.
I'd had to take it back to the guy I bought it from for help toward reassembly.
Thank goodness I was his boss as otherwise he'd have laughed at me even louder. :(

thanks but that does not show anything about putting this part back together, the rest of the pistol is very simple, but this part is not.
Ask someone on the Ask the Experts Forum at Gunbroker.com. Those guys have helped me a couple times when I ran into a problem with a 1908 Browning A5 that was way different inside than the later model schmematic I had to work from.
