I have been thinking about buying a BFG-50 for some time now, just the damn ammo has become so expensive and may be banned here soon so I may not. Still... that power and thunderous boom is sooo much fun. Only shot an AR-50 once at a rock pit.

The ban issue isn't that big of a deal, basically all you need to do if the ban hits is order a new barrel chambered for .50DTC. In Cali. the ban is on the .50 BMG cartridge specifically, the .50 DTC is legal because the case is about .015" different. Same bullet same performance just a slightly different case. Hate to say it but the Brits' did something right.

less then a 12ga? cmon now, that just sounds silly. i don't even think the Barret has less kick then a 12ga and its entire design is based around recoil dissipation.

i guess i'm strange but i find .50bmg annoying. i've only fired it from an M82 but it's as though you're firing a .30 bolt gun, but after the recoil shock it feels like someone is just trying to push you backwards.

maybe i'm the opposite of a recoil junkie?

They are pretty inexpensive for .50mbg rifles, and are supposedly one of the most accurate.

I've always wanted a 50, and 1700 is Damn Cheap for a new gun, including bipod, shipping, case, and scope mounts. Plus, if htere;s ever a serious rumor of a ban, you can bet the price on these things is going to skyrocket.

I won't be able to afford to shoot it that much, but hell, I've got plenty of guns that don't see much use. A hunting gun that gets shot maybe 20 times a year, shotgun about the same, some .22s that aren't shot much, etc. I concentrate on the defensive guns mostly, and plink with a couple of favored .22s.

The glass you need will cost almost that much, not many scopes can hand the .50's rumble.

Very very fun... we shot into the other side of the pit, you would hear the huge BOOM.........Fap! of the round hitting the rock face. Recoil was like a 12Ga shotgun, I know I should get one one day before I cant.

yea trust me it sucks missing out on a chance like that. im hoping that they dont ban them there cause that will suck when i move out there.
