hell you can do that with a used AMT automag 2 for a whole lot less.

Its a neat idea, but I dont like the DAO trigger, and its the 2nd ugliest gun I have ever seen next to the IMI SP21

The thing that makes no sense to me is that the Tactical, which has a single action trigger is restricted LEO/Mil only, and costs 150$ less than the USG.

The USG has 12#, 15# trigger pull? This ain't the easiest gun to shoot well. But ammo cost has gone down so it doesn't cost an arm, leg and first born to shoot anymore.

I'd rather have an H&K myself, like a Mk.23 or a USP Tactical.

I don't like the look of the Five-seveN.

The new five sevens are SAO i guess...shot one today...really like it! The manual sez trigger pull 5.5 lbs, it felt good.

Five-seveN USG (United States Government)

This is the most recent version of the Five-seveN. The USG keeps the features incorporated in the IOM, such as the magazine disconnect ("magazine safety"), single action trigger, and tall adjustable sights, but has some differences. These include a square (i.e. conventionally shaped) trigger-guard, checkered grip pattern, and a larger, reversible magazine release.

Are you sure it's a USG?

I like the five seven but the dao trigger sucks.

I looked at them in a few shops, but only the IOM had SAO trig and they couldn't sell to me because they are restricted. If they now have a USG that's SA I'll order 1 next week. SO let me know if they do have them now.

There has been some confusion between the IOM and USG. Just remember once again that no matter what your user's documents call your Five-seveN, if it has the square trigger guard it is a USG. According to FN, the name mixup is due to the transition between the IOM and USG versions. USG pistols labeled "IOM" or "IOM USG" aren't any different than USG's labeled "USG".

dude an SAO five seven might make some serious competition for this taurus im looking at.

How so??? It is 2x the price, the ammo it shoots penetrates well, but doesnt have effective topping ability, and its about the ugliest gun I have seen. The 24/7 Pro was the NRA gun of the year, I dont hear anyone loving the 5.7 guns other than they feel like a 22lr.

i actually have to agree with addler here.

you might as well get *.22lr pistol and load some steel spitzer rounds in it (if they even exist).

it bothers me that people still think that "high velocity" in hand gun barrels actually does something. hell, the 62gr M855 sucks coming out of anything under 16" since it doesn't fragment and barely yaws.

it's really this simple:
Short barrel - biggest diameter bullet @ highest velocity managible
long barrel - fastest speed/longest bullet.

we'll never have a common caliber between the two however until we switch to some super duper sabots that don't degrade accuracy or hit your squadmates in the back of the head.

Well I got a five seven USG today as a Birthday gift...got it 3 days early (my b-day is on the 4th and we'll be at a superbowl party).

I'm going to try and do some "real world" side-by-side testing with my Dad's Ruger .22 pistol. I'll take a bunch of pictures and try and do a good write up.

What are some tests you would like to see?

List

1) Video of recoil... or therefore lack of would be cool.

that 5.7 is more of a toy I think.

I like .357 revovers and had 3 of them, I traded my Dan Wesson to a good friend for his CZ-40. I nvr thoght i would ever have a .40 when 9mm and 45 is out there, But after shooting it, i see why its getting so popular, that round has a serious thump.

I fired my CZ40 at this tree with 180 gr and it left silver dollar sized marks wherever -- The specs on factory ammo is high, the cheap stuff is 421 ft lbs. And handloading you can get power like its parent round 10mm.

Don't know if I would have ever bought a 40 but I am starting to like it, its accurate and powerful.

Is it single or double action?

My first thoughts on this pistol were...Wow I spent a lot of money on this thing!

But that has changed, now it’s…Wow this pistol feels good in my hand. FN nailed the ergonomics on this pistol at least for my big dumb hands. The checkering on the grip is awesome and the grip in general is kick ass. I thought the XD had a good grip…but the Five-seveN USG blows it way on feel – period.

The pistol weight and balance are also very good. With a fully loaded mag (20 Rounds) down no round the pistol always feels perfect…once again in my big dumb hands.

The trigger pull is very clean and crisp and it goes bang around 4.5 to 6 lbs…I’ll try and get a more accurate pull reading soon.

The sights are also very nice and with how good the gun feels in your hand, they always line up very nice.

I’ll get out and shoot it in a few days and write some more.

Color me jealous... Im thinking of picking one of these gems up soon. Prob gonna pick up a usp tactical, sell the fullsize and pickup a 57.

Sounds like a plan huh ;)

Got a flush fit 18 rd mag for my hi-power, it has a reversable floorplate 18 sticks out just a little, turn it in for 17 rds,,,it argentine mag and some aftermarket floorplate, I was tripping when I loaded it full the 1st time. And shooting it.. keeps going and going....hi cap pistols that hold that many r so overkill, its awsome!
