I've checked packing.org for New York City knife regs as I'm going to be travelling there later today and it appears that anything under 4" is fine. I'm going to the auto show and usually like having a pocket knife with me but realize that certain... states/people have become unaccustomed to the thought of being prepared. I however think that 4" sounds a bit off and if anyone knows from experience or has any advice I'd really appreciate it. I might have to just leave it at home and hope for the best... (which means keeping in mind that my pen can be quite dangerous if I have no other options at my disposal ).

auto shows usually have security guards at the door, and if its a private convention center then state laws don't necessarily apply. the guys running the event can limit weapons in any way they see fit. if you have it exposed/clipped you might get it snagged at the door.

I left it behind and hoped for the best. All went off without a hitch and it was a fine show... except for the fact that there were other people there... lots of rude, uncultured, ignorant people . I really worry about our country's future.

i do not worry about the countrys future, as it is going into the sh*t can very fast,
what with the comming north american union, mexico taking over the southern and western states.
and the un controlling much of our new laws.

Man this one is old...
I carry a 4" blade with me EVERYWHERE. When I don't think I could get one through security this is my backup since noone really knows what it is

no gravity knives are allowed in NYC, so if your knife can be flicked open even by holding the blade and flicking the handle down it is illegal Just about every knife besides a swiss army knife can be. Also, the knife must be concealed, this includes the clip. NYC has jammed up many people because of this
