Glock, Beretta, or Sig?

14959 Views 48 Replies 20 Participants Last post by  MrMcCrackin
I sold my AK and some other stuff and have $550 to spend. I've handled and fired both the Glock (I think it was the 17? 9x19), the Beretta and the Sig Saur... I'm torn, though. They all rock.

I love the feeling and durability of the Glock, but I also love the feeling of power with the Beretta. And for some reason the Sig feels more powerful then all of them, although it feels a little like a pancake in my hands.

Thoughts?

If its a Beretta 92 or 96 dont get it.....they are not a well made gun. Beretta USA realy dropped the ball on them and they have a long track record for breaking locking blocks( I have seen a box full at a a range that rents them. its the most worked on model at alot of ranges) and cracking slides.

If you like the Beretta and want one..I sugest Taurus PT92. I have one and its as accurate, as reliable, cheaper, and built like thehigher quality Italian Berettas you cant get overhere anymore.

As for Sig and Glock....well its 2 different worlds really. Glocks will run cheaper and have an edge reliability wise, but if you like hammer guns then Sig works well. I suggest taht you might want to look into CZ 75 or the EAA Witness. They are slightly cheaper than all you suggested and have been popular for yers with American shooters. They are basically the same design but vary in calibers and finish. CZ is the original and EAA is a nice Italian made copy.

Tought call. I owned a Sig P239 for a while and loved it. Great gun, great ergos, great reliability for me. It is a big gun for 8+1 rounds of 9mm though. (It makes more sense in .40) So I sold it for a Glock 19. Same size gun, 15+1 rounds, and I just wanted a Glock for some reason. You can't make a bad decision between these two guns you picked.

The Beretta, I don't know, I only shot one for my NRA pistol qual. Okay gun, but I have no desire to own one.
Glock.

I own a glock, have carried a glock on duty, and have shot a Sig and now carry a Berretta. I wouldn't give you half of asking price for the Berretta.

I've seen 7 Sigs have fatal malfunctions.

I've never seen a problem with a Glock.
My vote goes with the 'plastic' Sig. I have a Sig Pro SP2340 (.40) and I love it. It's all of the good of the classic Sigs, plus it's lighter, more reliable, has a nicer trigger, and costs less (about the same as a Glock.) The new SP2020 is the same as my 2340 but comes in 9mm or .40 and upgrades the rail to a standard weaver instead of the annoying Sig specific design on mine.

I say whichever feels the best in your hand. The Sig is supposed to be the best of the 3 according to the FBI, ARMY, and state trooper torture test.
and I agree with adlers comments about the CZ... I like it better than all three of the pistols your lookiing at.
Which Sig did you handle, there are alot of them and they vary not just by caliber either.

Outside the 230/232, 226, and 220 I really never did care for the others. Well I do love the 210 but thats way too rich for my blood
Holy shit, I love my P226. That thing fits my hands better than any non 1911 pistol I've ever touched. I've never heard a complaint from anybody on the way it handles. It's one of those pistols where I feel it's a safe bet for pretty much anyone unless they have freakishly giant or freakishly small hands. I strongly recommend them. I've always been a big fan of hammer guns, though, so I may tend to have a little bias on this one.

I've shot SIG 239, 226, and 228.
lol,,, the 239 belonged to a lesbian married couple I met at my bro's wedding to his wife. We all went shooting a few weeks after on their land, at lesbian married couples house. One of those chicks was in a punk band with a good buddy of mine...they were cool!!! That 239 is what I am thinking of and hating on a little -- just dont like the feel of it, the other 2 SIGS were good. But like CZ-75 the best.

I can rapid fire the crap out of a cz-75, they are just right!!! that thing is like a dang mini machine gun!

MY CCW is a .357 S&W revolver though,...I live in TX! hahaha
i work in a gun shop here in tennessee and i will say this much. first thing is this... get what FEELS best for you. after all you are going to be carrying it and shooting it...

as for me, the only choice in the ones you listed are glocks. no other pistol in the history of the world has and can take as much torture as these amazing pistols can. sigs are good, they are accurate. hk are overpriced but are good weapons as well. berettas are overpriced and sub par in comparison to sig glock and hk. if it were me, i would get any glock. it will out live you and will fire everytime you pull the trigger! GUARANTEED!

Ha! Took the words out of my mouth.
my s&w .357 is the most reliable and fast on the fly gun I ever had, but yo i nvr torure tested it... its to prety lol...
Out of curiousity, has anyone had a Beretta Px4 Storm? I'm thinking about getting one, and according to the salesperson at the range, they're nice guns. But then again, he IS a salesperson. ;)
Wait a while for more reviews to come out. I will tell you for all the hate I throw toward Beretta for tehir 92....the Cougar series is a great gun and is the same firing system as the Storm
+1 on the Couger series. One of my buddies has one that I've been trying to convince to sell to me for a long time, but he won't crack on it. Bastard.

ok this is just bullshit. mndfusion, show me the stats on what gov. agency and military has stated that the sig is tougher than the glock. show me the torture tests.. i am going to sum it up for you... BULLSHIT. glocks have a complete strong hold on american LE. the G22 is the most widely carried police/sheriff issued duty weapon in the nation. approx. 68% of american LEO carry a glock of some variant. the air marshals use sigs and a few other feds may, along with about 4-6 state LEO agencies... i have NEVER heard that ANYONE has said that a sig is tougher than a glock... INCLUDING GOVERNMENT AGENCIES. the Tennessee Highway Patrol carries the G31. the full sized glock .357. i know alot of other highway patrols and other state police agencies are getting glock because of the weapons' life capacity. but mndfusion, i dont know where in the hell you heard that (probably through the grapevine) but that is false my friend. 8)

Acutally alot of LE agencies are moving away from Glocks. The cops here all use SIG 226, HK USP, or Springfield XDs. Thery used to use glocks but the lack of external safeties combined with a relatively light trigger make glocks a somewhat problematic carry weapon. Although accidents are rare it is still more likely since all the safeties are in teh trigger alone. This si why I went Steyr....same thing as a glock....same designer but witht he added security of a safety so if soemthing snags my trigger I dont end up with a .355 hole in me.
