umm i have 2... and yes 1 costs more then a stock AEG, but well worth it for eye relief and easy target aquisition.
I have a Eotech on my SBR, it is very nice at short range, and longer range (100yrd) slow shots but I can pick up mid range targets faster with a Aimpoint, since the dot is bigger
Finally had time to post some pics:

EOtechs are so badass they even have their own line of 3rd part accessories ;P

Just got a Scopecoat for my EOtech.

with my 552, and using my gen 1 nite vision, i could barely make out the reticle...

really need to upgrade to gen 3... lol...
I got the 552 on my .223 and the 553 is on backorder. That one is goin on the 5.56. Hey you should try it with the samson 3x magnifier. WHOOOOOHOOOO
I almost bought one from AEX in santa clara yesterday... but I wussed out. :(
WOW $579 bones!!! Your still my hero bud LOL! Even tho you didn't buy it ;)
Naw, I was gonna get the non-night vision one... the $369 version... still wussed out. I just cant justify the cost.

They had a similar sight which was much smaller than the Eotech, made by J&J or something... holo-red dot... It was $80. Curious to know how well it works for real steel. Especially during rapid fire. (would go onto an AR or similar)
Hmmm well some replica reddots perform just fine on real steel. There's a bunch of Aimpoint knockoffs that have seemed to fair well at aroudn the price you mentioned.
Here's the Flat Dark Earth EOTech 553, Bruiser at AEX brought back from the Shot Show.

The 553 features:
  • Integrated dual A.R.M.S. quick release throw levers.
  • Powered by two 123 lithium batteries
  • 7mm raised base to provide consistant cheek weld with all other standardized optics
  • 66 feet water submersibility
  • Battery cup tether
  • Night Vision Compatible

f-ing $600+ worth of EOTech though.

there's also a 3 or 4x extender accessory that was shown at SHOT 2007...
Yup you can see them here in the Eotech Booth at the last Shot Show. They make both 3x and 4x mag, with or without side flip.

Those M4's they are mounted on are Classic Army M4,supplied by our pals at Spartan Imports. ;) Most or the weapons in the Eotech booth were airsoft.
