Computers

Hell we spend so much time on them yet we hardly give them a thought. As well as building guns... I build custom high end computers for people (How I buy alot of my guns) Im not a nerd! I just happen to see that you can make a hell of alot of money building very powerfull computers for people, and it is easy as hell to build computers once you know what your doing...

As for my computer...

AMD Athalon 64 3700+ Prossesser
80 gig Seagate
200 gigs of storage Hard drives
2 gigs of ram (Yea... overkill I know)
Ati Radeon 9800 pro 256 MB

With all this high end stuff packed into the other computer case I had I could not put enough fans in it to stop it from overheating. I picked up this case and it happened to have a window in it... So I ended up adding a bunch of stuff on that as well Lights and crap, very cheap to do for something that everyone that has me build computers for them looks at so I figured I would make it stand out and now most people that have me build them for them want it with all this stuff added on to it as well.

Yea those are .308s cut in half on the side of the case there.. that was a bitch to do.... and the other metal stuff was from me messing with some scrap on the band saw. And that is a lamp with all the shell caseings in it as well, about two shooting range visits worth.

Anyone else do anything different with there computers, or need one built?

I just recently built myself a new one

p4 3.0 ghz
abit mobo
1 gig corsair xms pc3200 ddr
seagate hd
evga geforce 6600gt 128 mb

not quite top of the line but much better than my last one. It was a budget build. Plays BF2 well and thats all I care about.

I got my case fully opened up with a big ass fan blowing on it when playing games to keep it cool. It is surprisingly quite for being open.

Going to be adding another gig of ram here real soon when my tax return comes in. (No 2 gigs is not overkill)

Since basically all of my free time goes to playing BF2, among other games, I've got a pretty decent computer. ;)

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+
Gigabyte K8N SLI Pro
1 Gig Kingston HyperX (I will probably be adding another gig soon, as well)
eVGA geForce 7800 GTX
160 GB WD SATA
250 GB Maxtor SATA
1 GB Iomega Jaz drive (why? I have no clue, actually. ;) )
300 GB Seagate PATA, which is currently sitting on top of my case in an anti-static bag because I haven't gotten around to putting it back in the external enclosure.

I also plan on (once Fry's gets them in stock again) *trying* to sell the 250 Maxtor and buying one or two (maybe three) more of the 160 GB WD's and going with RAID 0... Big performance boost. ;)

Oh, and two things for ish:

1. Isn't your ram DDR2? If so, what is the timing on it, if you know?
2. I just thought I'd let you know that keeping the side panel off is actually one of the worse things you can do for airflow. For one, if it's a good case, the fans are placed to provide a certain flow of air across all of the hardware, and removing the side distrupts that. Two, it helps collect alot of dust inside, which is very bad for the hardware.

And just so you know, my side panel is currently off, because I've been procrastinating about putting the power switch back in. ;)

1. No, it is DDR 400. The timing (from new egg) says 2-3-3-6 but my computer runs it at 3-3-3-8 Here is what I am currently running New Egg Link

2. I know that, but when I upgtraded my computer one of the things that I salvaged from my old system was my case. The case I have wasn't meant for a P4 and so with the fans in place and whatnot I can't get proper cooling. The way I have it set up has shown me the best results. I go through and clean it often to keep the dust out of it. I am thinking about buying a proper case when my tax return comes in along with another gig of memory.
Thats why I ended up getting the case I have here in the first place. It has tons of places for fans. I currently have 9 fans running in there, I may upgrade to watter cooled some time when I have enough to get the other guns on my list for now so water cooling is a looooong way off in that case....

OH and everyone like my lamp??? Yes those are all shells I fired.

Lucky... I had a Socket T P4 a while back, and it ran DDR2... It's crap for gaming. The timing was somewhere along the lines of 12-8-8-6, I think.

And yes, fatcat, I like your lamp... but you should ship it to me. ;)
You pay for the shipping... it weighs a TON!

Wow! I didn't realize DDR2 was so slow. I thought it was supposed to be a lot better.
Sorry, I was completely off... Way WAY WAY off... lol

The correct timing for mine (I belive) is: 4-4-4-12. Yes, I was that far off... I blame it on the combination of tons of caffiene and sugar mixed with a little bit of water and tea leaves. ;)
Wow, good eye... I didn't notice that sticking out. I've got one of those hanging off the back of my computer too. ;)
I just upgraded my stuff, got a new case and a 430 W power supply and another gig of ram.
How else do you think I take movies of me shooting my guns to show off! Have one of the new Ipods with video.

Nice job spotting that.
im not sure but i think you have a kingstone optial mouse that is rechargeble its near the light
Actually, it's a Logitech, I'm going to guess MX1000? or MX300? Or am I way off? ;) I'm also going to guess that that's an Antec case, and a Zalman CPU heatsink/fan. ;) And is that a bottle of Crown Royal in the back, behind the lamp? (empty, of course)
I'm not sure, I don't drink, so I could be mistaken. But, what I'm referring to is right behind and to the left of the lamp, right next to that red thing. (It's only a little piece of it, whatever it is, most of it is hidden by the lamp.)
Naw, the cap on a bottle of Crown is box shaped, it doesn't have that bowed up thing going on with the corners.
Upon further inspection, I also realize that no bottle of Crown I've ever seen/drank is even close to that tall. It would have to be sitting on top of something to be showing over the edge of the lamp.
