Hey Guys,

I am very new to guns and bought my first (and probably only gun ever) It was a used left handed 870 express. I have taken it out about 3 or 4 times and would like to know how often I should clean it and what I can do to ensure it lasts? I am looking for a walkthrough of gun disassebly and can't seem to find one with the n00b jargon I am looking for. They use terms that I dont understand. so If anyone can point me in that direction I would appreciate it. It doesnt have to be a lh walkthrough, I am smart enought to know whats flipped and whats not. Thanks in advance.

No, just makes it easy to take apart when it does not have the extended tube one it.

Do you know how to get the barrel off? If yes good. If no then unscrew the endcap and open the chamber and pull the barrel off.

Once you have done that reach your fingers under the reciver and push in the two shell holders behind where the shells come out of the tube push them in and pull forward on the grip, the bolt will come out.

Same to put it all back.

You have any questions about that ask them, I dont have time to go over it and check right now have to pick someone up.

Sorry about that. I had just watched that vid right before I saw this thread and thought it may help. I tore down and cleaned my dad's 870 a few months ago and I didn't realize that it was manditory to remove the trigger on the 500. I just thought the guy in the vid was taking it out anyway.

Anyway, to make up for it here's a pdf of the manual... :D

Its alright, they look the same therefore they should come apart the same.

I love how people come into work with a bag-o-mossberg from when they take it apart and the rods fall out everyone always panics the first time that happens.
