Jesus... That's rough. Guess we'll never know the whole truth. But the shooter (perp) seems to have clearly been in the wrong. Still though, sucks all the way around.

Short version...
A police officer stopped a suspect for speeding. Suspect and officer have history of feud. Suspect initially runs, is stopped again, and then shoots the officer 4 times.
Suspect proceeds to run over the dying officer's body with his car until an ex-marine and his son driving by stop and intervene. After using his vehicle as a shield to protect the officer, the ex-marine sends his son to the cruiser to radio for help while he picks up the officer's service weapon, orders the suspect to drop his weapon and exit the car. Suspect tries to reload his gun. Marine shoots and kills him.
