Hello, new to the forum and was just browsing around. I currently live in Chicago, Illinois and if I am not mistaken one can not carry in the city and that the gun has to stay at the place of residence. Can anyone answer that one for me? Basically I have been interested in a gun for hobby matters (shooting at the range) and also self defense. I currently work for the department of homeland security, transportation security admin and was wondering if that gives me any leverage to carry throughout chicago.

In chicago, you are not allowed to have handguns in the city limits, no CCW in the state of IL.

Mayor Daley is a douchebag, hates guns. Unless your job description calls for a weapon then there is no chance

Working for the TSA *might* get you a little leverage, but it depends on your job there- a screener would not get any help, but management or a senior person might. From what I hear of the TSA though, the management is not all that helpful though. I'd love to hear your experience with that organization.
