We took a bud's wife hunting for the first time last year and she enjoyed it. She used 1 of my rifles last year; none of his fit her right; now she wants her own, I offered to give her the gun but she won't take it so my bud wants me to build her 1 that fits her and she likes.

We decided to use a charles daly mini mauser action, very nice actions at very good price. So yesterday i call around looking for 1 no one has any, 10 distrubitors and gun shops and naa daa, so i call up Charles daly whom informs me that they are no longer importing mauser/mini mauser actions in any form, action, bareled action or rifle. They have a few left but not what I needed. It seem Remington offered more money to the serb manufacture to supply the guns for their new mauser rifle line, which by the way MSRP for 200$ more than the daly guns. Remington is only importing rifles not the actions or barreled action thus killing the supply of new mauser actions to the public. Thanks to the Remy bastards the only new mauser available is from Empire and they start at 2000$, which I will pay before I buy a Remington product again. It just pisses me off whan a big name company throws around so money and ruins things for everyone, they make more money if they take away the competition.

OK i vented, so now im I'm looking into other options.
OHH Adler the great, any suggestion in the mauser line?

Some places still had them last time I checked but its getting hard to find them.

I do know that some Spanish made actions were on the market recently at a very affordable price.

I love mausers this is true but maybe you should look at the Howa 1500 actions that Legacy Sports International sells. They are fine actions made by a fine company. BTW...Weatherby uses them to make their actions.

Other than that I know CZ makes plain actions that are Mauser based but they cost more than the Daly ones.

Are you looking for barreled actions or just actions? If barreled, in what caliber? maybe I can track one down for you.

I do like howa actions but it's a bitch getting a stock for them, Mcmillan is about the only place that makes a good synthetic stock for them, and they run almost 700$ because they require spesial inletting.

I just want the action, I'm planing on an aftermarket barrel, but I'll take a barreled action and cannibalize it if thats all i can find. What I'm looking for is"

1: Mauser, Stainless w/ .470 bolt face

2: Mauser, stainless w/ .532 boltface

3 barrelled action of 1 and 2

Well the distributors Ron Shirk and Zanders had some in the last flyers I got from them about a month ago. Might want to try them out.

For Howa actions I do know the Boyds makes wood stocks really inexpensive.

I have seen a few floating around on gunbroker and auctionarms in the last few weeks.

Ron shirk and Jerry's were 2 of the first places i tried, Shirky is a personal friend and Jerry's has centers all over the country plus they're both with in 90min of my house and will let me pick stuff up same day if my FFL calls the order in.

I tried Zanders but they have only Mini mauser's left in stock.

I like boyd's wood, I;ve used them to restock so old rifles my grandfather gave me and they look great. Which is the problem, I never use wood on a field gun cuz it pisses me off when it gets scratched or dinged where synthetic is just plastic so who cares.

Bell and carlson has synthetics for the Howa listed at 199$ but until you add on everything you need it's 500$

Well look around for Herters, JC Higgins, FN, BRNO, and Husqvarna rifles on the auction sites. They are 98 mauser actions and can be pirated without feeling bad about bubbaing a military mauser.

I gave up on mauser, I just don't have the time to wait. I took the project thinking it was a Xmas present, she plans on using it this year which give me about 2 months. It takes 3-4 weeks for the barrel, then I have to finish cut it and drill mounting block holes and headspace it for the bolt. While waiting on the stock, which is tricky since it's for a woman and cup size can screw with LOP, so I gotta get her measured before that can be done. Then get all the shit to bed it, glass, pillar or block I'll figure that later. Get it all together correctly the 1st time I hope, mount a scope, I got a valada 2.5-10 i'm gonna throw on and make sure it's accurate. And all this by the week before Thanksgiving.
They don't want a used action and the only new mausers I could find had outrageous pricetags so I'm going with a Sako 75-III, with the turn around time on the barrel and stock I just can't wait.

Nothing wrong with a used action as long as its not a shot out military one. I find the FN made JC Higgins ones are really lightly used. They were sold as Sears guns and most are closet queens.

Personally I am waiting for a nice Husqvarna action to float by. I really want a nice Swede steel 98 action in either 8mm or 30-06
