Im an FFL holder and just to let you know you cant import any military surplus weapons into the country without an importers licnese....believe me I tried to import a Black Widow Luger and couldnt because the ATF wont allow you to without the expensive import license. If it had been a commercial luger I could have. The ATF guy in my area is one of the nicest ones I have ever met....a bit dry humored but he even admited that he thinks some the shit rules are stupid adn explained to me all about it.

That being said you can pay 100 bucks and probably get one imported into the country through someone with an import license which is about 1k a year instead of the 200 for 3 years a Clas 1 FFL like me had to pay.

A regular FFL can import a gun but the gun has to be a sporting/commercial weapon and you have to give the make, model, and serial number to the ATF and fill out a form. In about 3 months you get the decision. You cant merely UPS them in as a kit, as a gun, or as a parts kit.

No but I own one...dont care for it, and have read more first hand accounts of failures than I ever wanted to. actually way more than I can find about previous US service rifles, or many other service rifles that is to say that actually tolerated adverse conditions without having to be meticulously cleaned everyday.

No to mention that the only reason teh gun was adopted was because McNamara wanted it so the acceptance trials were basically conducted with extra clean burning ammuniton and in sterile conditions. Had the AR system been tested like it was in the 50's it would have failed. So I dont have any respect for the gun outside of that its a good target gun that does just fine killing varmints and paper.

There were simply better patforms available back then and now...one of which is the gun it replaced.

Id take an FAL, HK g3, M14, AK, Galil any day over an AR platform as a standard service arm. Atleast I can fire 200 rounds through them without having it start to get dirty and malfucntion on me like my Colt does.Good thing mine has a foward assist since Im using it by teh end fo the day more than once. I will not shed a tear for it when its replaced.

It works differejntly if you actually purchase them in a foreighn country. As long as it is a legal weapon you just go to the U S embassy/consulate tell the what you want to do and they give you the paperwork and off you go. just like renewing a pass port in the US it takes a day in a nother country your done in 20 minutes.

FFL's are kinda screwed by the importation laws. A non FFL can get a temp ATF #6 app and 6e and have a gun imported by an FFL but to go the way the gun can't be resold. So an FFL must prove it's for personal use and that he won't sell it in the future.

But alot of foreign countries have export bans i.e....the Swiss on firearms. Thats whty SIG bought Sauer in Germany.

If I had an M76 I wouldnt sell it.........and who the hell has the money to fly around the world to buy a gun you could have imported for 100 bucks?

You still wouldnt be able to import assault/battle rifles...however an SVD would be ok.

Yes you can only bring back US legal firearms, SVD's and the like are prominent because they're semi auto there fore can be called a "sporter" type rifle. Where as most battle/assult rifles you run into are full auto and manufactured after '86 so your SOL there. As for going to other countries, us gun nuts are alays looking for good deals no matter where so as they say. When in rome......

Chuck Norris or Jack Bauer from "24"? hm...

I love how when Jack has a choice of every kind of rifle he could think of in the back of the SUV's but no... he still packs that USP even when everyone else has sub guns or machine guns!

3. AK47 - best assault rifle in the world, toughest rifle on the globe, ever!
4. AR15/M16 - the ar's are more accurate and shoot a faster but smaller round, .223.
