    Savage arms 338

Hello, I'm looking to buy a new Savage arms 338 rifle. Just looking for a little advise between two models. I'm looking the savage arms model 110 which is about $2000 and the 110 fsp precision rifle at $1400. Just want to know if anyone has or shot these weapons and what they think. Thank you in advance.

    Hi Mac....

Have you ever shot a 338?

Kewl, I was just wondering because most people that shoot a 338 tend to sell them off fast. As for experience, I have none with the savages, although a Weatherby 338 Synthetic was a comfort to carry in Alaska my first year:

Savages make great guns, so either of them in that kind of price range should be fantastic, but ask the Savage experts. Good luck

Both weapons has 26 inch barrels, both bolt action, the 110 is 14.7 lbs and the 110FCP is 10.7 lbs. The 110 has a magpul Prs-G3 stock. The 110FCP has a HS precision stock.

The 14 pounder will absorb some of the stiff recoil better but if yer lugging up a mountain top, its a heavy gun

I can't comment on the models your looking at, but this is my Savage Model 12 FT/R in .308. It has a 30" heavy Stainless barrel, and is the most accurate rifle I own. It has the Target Accutrigger that let's off at around 1 pound, or a bit less. The gun is heavy, (a bit over 14 pounds), but recoils like a .223. The scope is a Bushnell Tactical Elite 5-15X 40 MM in Burris Signature Zee Rings. Bases Are Burris 2 piece steel bases. I've done nothing to this rifle except shoot it. I have not been disappointed by it's performance. I also have a Savage Model 10 FP in .308 with the standard Accutrigger. It's got the same scope. It's accuracy is only slightly less. Both rifles like Sierra 168 Grain Matchkings loaded over 42.0 grains of Varget. The bottom rifle is another Savage. It's a Model 110 FCP-K in .300 Winchester Magnum. Same scope except it has Leupold Steel Tactical Rings. These are all 3 weapons:
