Red face Action pics: Mossberg 500 breacher and G19

I was not expecting such a big flame, camera wasn't aiming far enough away.

Mossberg 500 with the 18.5" breacher barrel on it.

here is a 1650x1100 desktop size of the above: http://yfrog.com/0fmossberg500j

    Backstory.

So for my action pics I have been experimenting and pretty much loading my own cartridges/shells for the pictures. My first go with the shotgun (I pulled the shot out of a 2.75" standard target shell) didn't result in ANY flash. So for the 2nd try I gave'r a 1.5 load of red dot and got the above results.

Then in case that didn't work I had also filled a 2nd shell with a double load and some extra overpowder wads to help bring up the pressure so all the red dot would combust.

I had my setup all ready to go, I got a bunch of "pre" pics properly exposed and was ready to go.

Then I opened the shutter for the 2nd half of the exposure.

Yeah, this fireball was WAY bigger than I ever expected

The ****ing thing was 1 foot wide and 2-3 feet long

And heres one with my G19

Those are awesome. How are you triggering the camera?

I take 2 exposures, each of them is 4 seconds long. The first one I take a led flashlight and light up the gun. For the 2nd one I click the shutter, it stays open long enough for me to pull the trigger and for the flash to finish. I then merge them in photoshop and do some work to make it look like one exposure.

Same thing when I did the AR shoot (from the other thread):

Great photography! I'd love to try that with a black powder gun.

I dont know how I missed this thread originally but the photos you posted are AMAZING! I love the shot of the night sights with the flash... AMAZING stuff!

Any updates or any new ones?
    When in doubt, ask Adler.
