Cool how do you know if your eligible for CCW?

I have been trying to research to find out if Im eligible for CCW. Ive done everything excepty mail my $75 to the florida dept of ag. for the liscencing. But now Im starting to feel like maybe im not able to obtain my CCW lisence. Everything ive found for the state of florida only stipulates that if you have been arrested or convicted of any mis. or fel. pertaining to violence would you be rejected, but I have other people telling me that It depends on how many times youve been arrested total for anything if you pass or not. I have been arrested three times, twice for speeding tickets that were not paid (warrent for arrest) and once for evading police "so they say", the evading police was reduced to wreckless driving. So all in all, I havnt found where is sayd you cant have a CCW lisence due to traffic infractions... but maybe someone might have some other insight?
    thanks

Well as soon as you got a reckless its a misdemeanor and no longer a traffic infraction. the warrant for your arrest could also be a misdemeanor offense. however i dont know that misdemeanors (of any type or amount) would directly effect your eligibility. your best best is to check out concealed carry.com and look there. do you know the sheriffs reputation as far as ccw issuance is concerned?

If you can still buy a gun you should be just fine.

Plus its an excuse to go out and buy a new gun...

Yeah, I'd send it in and see what happens. I just sent my FL CCW paperwork in today. Now I have 90 days to buy a pistol and get proficient with it.

First thing, welcome to the board Justin.
    We're happy to have you.

    Beyond that though the answer to your question is detailed at the FL Div. of Licensing;

    Possible Reasons for Ineligibility:

o The physical inability to handle a firearm safely.
o A felony conviction (unless civil and firearm rights have been restored by the convicting authority).
o Having adjudication withheld or sentence suspended on a felony or misdemeanor crime of violence unless three years have elapsed since probation or other conditions set by the court have been fulfilled.
o A conviction for a misdemeanor crime of violence in the last three years.
o A conviction for violation of controlled substance laws or multiple arrests for such offenses.
o A record of drug or alcohol abuse.
o Two or more DUI convictions within the previous three years.
o Being committed to a mental institution or adjudged incompetent or mentally defective.
o Failing to provide proof of proficiency with a firearm.
o Having been issued a domestic violence injunction or an injunction against repeat violence that is currently in force.
    o Renouncement of U.S. citizenship.
o A dishonorable discharge from the armed forces.
o Being a fugitive from justice.

As per your OP you do not meet the above _restrictions_ toward eligibility.
Speeding and failure to stop is not a crime of violence. Having had a warrant that has been fulfilled (you were caught/arrested and adjudicated) no longer makes you a fugitive from justice.

As based on what you have shared thus far you are not ineligible, in FL.

whew, I hope so! thanks for the insight. I would hate to have spent $40 for the class, $35 for electronic submission of fingerprints, then $75 for registration for the ccw permit and then get denied! lol I would be out $150

    Why do the electronic submission?
    Are you a FL resident?

If not then you don't have to do that and can submit hard copy fingerprint cards instead, via your local PD. It cost me a $10 fee to get them done albeit this is open only to non-resident applicants.
