here in VA hunt country, there's a lot of antique stuff around including guns. The local smith has this one he's trying to identify. Any thoughts?? His notes:
a percussion revolving shotgun. It has a 5 chamber cloverleaf cylinder that fires the top cylinder thru the barrel. Internally there is a cased clockspring mechanism that can be wound up, which powers the hammer and rotates the cylinder. The barrel is a twist type, smooth inside and nicely browned in color. There is a number on the receiver (140) and on the handguard. The bore diameter is 0.648 at the muzzle and at the cylinder end. There are no other identifying marks anywhere. Barrel is 29 inches long with a bead front sight. No rear sight of any kind. No proof marks. The trigger guard is unusual in that the forward portion is much larger than the rest giving it a bulbous appearance.

That looks like a fun gun to have chainfire.
I'll dispatch the "Adler light", Batman has nothing on Adler.
When in doubt, ask Adler.
I think they have one of those at the Nevada State Museum in Carson

When in doubt, ask Adler.
not that...this has the hammer to one side, not on the centerline
Yeah, I know... I just thought maybe it was a modern adaptation of the rifle you posted.
When in doubt, ask Adler.
