Good Price On IMI M-855 Ammo

I ordered a couple of 1,200 round cases of this IMI M-855 Steel Core 62 Gr. Ammo from Wideners last week, and it arrived yesterday. This stuff is good ammo, and it's loaded nice and hot! No short stroking with this stuff. The price was very good, just $360.00 per 1,200 round case. I'm pretty good in the .223 / 5.56 MM ammo department, but I didn't have much M-855. The lady I talked to said they had quite a bit but it was moving fast. IMI makes good ammo. Bill T.

The price of $360.00 is down from the $390.00 they were charging this past Summer. I was only going to get 1 case originally, however I have a bad feeling about what lies ahead. Everyone is predicting a large increase in oil prices in the near future. If that happens ammo will definitely go way up. It takes oil to produce and ship ammo. If gas goes to the $6.00 and $7.00 per gallon mark that many are predicting, ammo will get very expensive. So I figured it will hurt less now than later. Bill T.

This is M855 ammo that I tend I keep and not shoot so much.

It's loaded nice and hot, which I like.

The cases are fairly clean, and relatively scratch and dent free, which I really prefer to some of the Lake City loose rounds that I've seen.

With my LMT Piston 16 carbine, most of the time I shoot either Federal XM-193 55gr. 200rd. packs or PMC Bronze.

Even though I'm not restricted from shooting steel-core or steel jacket ammo where I go, I don't shoot a ton of M855. When I do, I tend to shoot the Lake City loose rounds.

When I get my hands on some of the "cleaner" M855 ammo, like the stuff from IMI or the Canadian C77, I tend to hang on to it.

I just picked up a case of this IMI stuff, so I'm stoked.

Well I finally got around to shooting a few rounds of this IMI M855 on Sunday when I went to the range.

As expected, the ammo is very clean and bright, with not what I would consider to be excessive bullet or primer sealant, the primer pockets are crimped, and an IMI 09 headstamp.

This ammo shoots great, and the propellant even smells good when burnt.

The cases are well-annealed, and the copper-jacketed projectiles have an interesting look, resembling heat-treated titanium:

The price is up to $420.00 a case on this stuff. Bill T.
